Power Electronics Engineer. £30k - £42k Negotiable + Bonus. Ref: M3669. South Coast - relocation available.

Our blue chip engineering client is looking for an engineer to join the R&D team working on new product development for motors and drives. Typical projects take existing motor drive designs and apply these to new platforms. This requires identification of shortcomings, and implementations of necessary design improvements in the control and power electronics and possibly in the cooling arrangement to meet the application requirements. The motor drives comprise a mixture of power electronics, small signal analogue/digital electronics, embedded software and forced air / water cooling. They operate from single phase supplies up to 240Vac and from 3 phase supplies up to 460Vac, controlling induction motors and permanent magnet synchronous motors with power ratings up to 10kW. Responsibilities will include: Requirements analysis; concept proposals and selection; detailed electrical and electronic design and analysis; prototype building and testing; verification and validation against functional requirements; production and field problem investigation and solving; value engineering and cost reduction support. Skills we are hpoing to find are: Power electronics design / development, especially MOSFET/IGBT based inverters; Analogue electronics design and analysis, including signal conditioning and conversion; Schematic capture with ORCAD or similar tool; System integration testing and qualification testing; Experience of compliance work for electrical safety and for EMC; Preparation of specifications and test reports.

Salary is negotiable. There is a relocation package available, and benefits include bonus, pension and healthcare.
