Lead Mechanical Development Engineer West Sussex £46k + bonus
A Technical lead is required to join a NPI - New Product Introduction team developing high speed rotating equipment. An understanding of the design of rotating machines is necessary as would experience in heat transfer, rotating element bearings, lubrication systems and vacuum technology. The purpose of the position is the development and test of new and innovative designs for deployment in vacuum pumping systems. In support of this would be the ability to manage a team creating and working through all aspects of development programmes from start to first production run insuring that designs are fit for purpose and comply with relevant customer and legislative standards. This will require an organised approach to the analysis and presentation of data involving the generation of conclusions and appropriate recommendations for resolution of problems and improvements in the design/process. Good communication skills are required. Reporting lines to the position are from development engineers and technicians.
The candidate should be IT literate in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project. Experience of DFA/M, D/PFMEA, APQP and other development tools and the requirements of BS EN61010 and Semi S2 would be a further advantage.
The candidate must be highly motivated, self-starting individual, able to contribute effectively within a flat organisational structure. Early assumption of responsibility for all aspects of product development programmes can be expected. Scope of responsibility will be from concept through to verification and validation of design and production processes in support of market introduction.
